girl in kimono, Shichi Go San -the Japanese coming of age festival
Tanabata festival 七夕 - celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi (represented by the stars Vega and Altair respectively) in Japan. According to legend, the Milky Way separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar. On 7th July, Japanese celebrate this day by writing wishes or poems on Tanzaku (small piece of paper) and hanging them on bamboo.
❀ Gorgeous Kimonos on Shichi-go-san ❀The shichi-go-san festival celebrates the 7th (shichi) and 3rd (san) birth years of young girls and 5th (go) birth years of young boys all around Japan in October. The celebration is simple and nice: Japanese people dress their children in beautiful kimonos and they pay a visit to a shinto shrine.
