Male deer grow antlers seasonally. They usually shed their antlers after mating season. Each year they grow back larger. They are solid bone and require large quantities of minerals. In early spring they are covered in a vascular tissue called velvet, because the texture is similar to that of velvet. Beautiful creatures.
My daily ritual would like to sit quietly screened by plants and watch the deer.. maybe feed them with corn or a garden. uplifting.
