Okinawa -- 沖縄 -- is a Japanese prefecture that consists of about 160 islands spread between Kyushu and Taiwan. Its subtropical climate makes the archipelago lush and pleasant in all seasons. Okinawa is an ideal destination for relaxing on white sandy beaches or for diving in turquoise blue waters full of fish, multicoloured corals and other marine creatures! It is also on this island that the Okinawan centenarians live, with an impressive longevity!

The United States Marine Corps Base Camp Kinser is located on the city's coast. Even today, Urasoe is called "Tedako City".
