Taama, Lead singer of ROACH styled in modern men's kimono with yokai, tattoos, and gauges
"Also allowing photos in several areas of the exhibition, I just had to wrap Taama, singer of the band ROACH in a dark and edgy kimono for pictures. With all his tattoos he just became an artwork himself! In Japan, there still is quite a stigma attached to tattooed people. Hopefully we did not scare any other visitors or viewers of my social media… Not everyone who looks scary is a bad person, haha." Antique Kimono day out with toddler and baby
Finally a motivation to wear a Meisen kimono again as I have been avoiding antiques since having kids (You know, don't want to stain them with tears, food and the likes...) My almost 3 year old does love to wear kimono too, so I was happy to go out together (and the 7 month old baby on my back). Check out my article about the "Taisho Dream: Secret Meisen Story" Exhibition 「大正の夢 秘密の銘仙ものがたり」展 !
Roller Skates x Kimono in New York
When seeing this yukata design from the brand Rumi Rock - it instantly reminded us of the 70s and those New York roller derby or roller skate discos. So we just had to gather amazing local creatives and bring this vision alive. Summer kimono in New York! Click the link to see all pics from the shoot (scroll down a bit).
