Our Potluck Kitchen

Given that I'm the Co-Founder of http://www.potluck.us, it's only logical that people ask me if we actually cook and host parties. You can trust me when I say that our kitchen is our favorite room of the house! Here's a few pictures of our humble Brooklyn apartment to show that you don't need size to have an awesome kitchen! :)

The Easiest Sign Up Sheet | Potluck
I grew up on a farm in Mississippi that's been in my family for over 170 years. I homesick on a regular basis, so I brought some old barn planks from home to make spice shelves in our Brooklyn kitchen! :)

This is a regular site in our kitchen. Roast Chicken is my absolute FAV!
the kitchen is clean and ready for us to use

Brooklyn kitchens are known to be relatively small, and ours has ZERO counter space, so we went with an island, a baker's rack, and lots (and lots) of shelves. We love the 'open' look instead of cabinets! :)
a kitchen with pots and pans hanging on the wall
Yes, that's an Iron Chef America poster above our fridge. We like to pretend we're in Kitchen Stadium! (Also a little known fact about me - I used to work on the show, but not as a chef!)
a kitchen filled with lots of clutter and cooking utensils next to a sink

The key to no counter space - shelves and grids! I've always been a big fan of using open shelves instead of cabinets. People think it might look 'messy', but it's way better in small spaces! We love it, and The Container Store is the absolute BEST place to get custom shelving!

Those spice shelves back there are actually from an old barn on my family farm back in Mississippi. I get homesick for the country, so they help remind me where I'm from. :)

The Easiest Sign Up Sheet | Potluck
My absolute favorite fruit. These days I slice it up, but when I was a kid I'd just knaw it down to the rind! :)
two plates with breakfast foods on them sitting on a table next to juice and water

This is a typical Sunday morning in our house. Banana pancakes, Home Fries, and bacon. Always bacon. :)

I refuse to eat fruit out of season, but you better believe I love me some fresh strawberries! :)

In an effort to eat as fresh and healthy as possible, I make my own sausage. Sage is the key. Lot's of sage and pepper. :)
a wooden table topped with a glass bowl filled with flour and an egg on top of it

We recently started making our own pasta. It's definitely easier than I thought it would be! :)

Our Elf on the Shelf, Glitterby, is usually hangin' out in the kitchen during the holidays! :)

If it's cold outside, you can bet good money on the fact that our Dutch Oven is hard at work! Chili is my favorite thing ever :)
a vase filled with yellow roses next to two bags of chips and a sign that says happy valentine's day
The Easiest Sign Up Sheet | Potluck
This is how we celebrate Valentine's Day. Coffee! :)
