Buddy Holly.....the ill-fated "winter dance party" tour. Buddy Holly played at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa on Feb. 2, 1959. The day after the date on this poster, on Feb. 3, 1959, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, & the Big Bopper died in a plane crash in route to the next stop. The date has now become known as "the day the music died."

Singer/songwriter Ritchie Valens was born Today 5-13 in 1941 Ritchie Valens was born-- his life was cut short being killed in the famous plane crash 'the day the music died' in 1959, which took the lives of Buddy Holly and The Big Bobber as well.
