Darazah Sharif, near Ranipur, Pakistan - A small village, some 52 km from Khairpur, is known for the tomb of Sachal Sarmast who was a great master of Islamic learning, lived a pious life and composed poetry in Sindhi, Seraiki, Persian and Urdu. Sachal Sarmast's Urs is celebrated on 14th of Ramzan (9th month of Islamic lunar calendar).
This looks like some of the architecture we saw when we were touring Agra and Delhi back in 2010. I promised Mummy that I'd build her a Taj Mahal-like house (in terms of the white marble and the beautiful designs). It's amazing how the color is still there on most of the designs for these old, old buildings.
But not far from the dazzle of Abu Dhabi is a different version of the emirate: a place where the local markets, not the malls, are still the best spots to shop, and where the souks are fragrant with spices.
