Possessions of a lady - an 18th century obsession: Patch Box
17th century wedding dresses
Pride: a man in fashionable dress standing next to a peacock holding a roundel with the title in his hand. c.1640, Engraving. Goddard's prints were pirated from a set by Abraham Bosse, 'Le Jardin de la Noblesse Française', published by Langlois in France in 1629. Bosse's set was intended simply as fashion plates, showing eighteen French cavaliers dressed in the height of fashion. Goddard uncharitably selected seven of them and added appropriate attributes to represent the Deadly Sins.
