Young Spanish mestizo women in native dress inside a pleasant Filipino home, Erimita, Manila, Philippines, 1899 by John T Pilot, via Flickr. Back in the day, European blood was the key to success. If you look at their shows and movies today, it's still sorta the same.
JKR: the original poster stated the following- Spanish Meztiza Girls in Native Dress, Manila by Okinawa Soba, via Flickr. The use of the word "native" is interesting here. This style of dress was introduced by Spaniards and is not native to the Philippines. It would be like the Japanese seeing a Filipino wearing an American T-shirt 'n jeans and calling it "native dress." Also, it's not often that the word "native" is used in describing people of European descent.
