OP: Elijah Wood was thoroughly deprived of an award he deserved when he didn't win an Oscar for his depiction of Frodo. Many label his portrayal as weak. To that I say: Frodo Baggins was never strong. He had not the brawn of Aragorn, nor the courage of Gimli. He was a simple, quiet, small man, and a power far greater than any else could bear overwhelmed him. Where in that journey did the audience expect to see strength, or wit, or joy? We saw Frodo as Tolkien meant him to be seen.

For the time will soon come when Hobbits will shape the fortunes of all.

Near the end of the book is SOOO sad because you can tell that Frodo fully believes neither he nor Sam will come back:(

"Bilbo once told me his part in this tale would end… that each of us must come and go in the telling. Bilbo's story was now over. There would be no more journeys for him… save one."
