Art is subjective. We’ve all heard this one before. But what is art, and NOT art at the same time? A Jordanian artist explores the question. Warsheh is a design collective based in Amman, Jordan and is headed by two graphic designers and illustrators, Mothanna Hussein and Hadi Alaeddin. Simply put, they specialize in “branding, logo, and poster design”. Their latest series of posters, cleverly titled, “NOT ART”, involve the reinterpretation of classical paintings. In their own words, the posters are “a simple reinterpretation of how we saw them. Our tribute to art and design.” The central character of each painting is superimposed upon textured, solid-colored backgrounds with geometric shapes around them, highlighting proportions and focal points. Check out some of the posters below and follow them on Tumblr for more interesting works.
