A fine English side by side, most likely a Holland and Holland, number two of a pair. This gun is an actual side lock, not just a side plate, as is denoted by the pins on the sides that hold parts of the action in place. The gold inlay number 2 denotes this gun is the second of a matched pair. The gun has ejectors, rather than simply extractors, denoted by the split extractor prawls. I’d say this gun is quite old, mainly from the style of the engraving and the condition of the metal itself.
