Platinum millegrain tiara, with diamond curvilinear stem base bifurcating at the centre from which issue a centre spear shaped leaf flanked on each side by diamond stems supporting star flowers, each with five rays tipped with a round pearl between knife blade wires terminating in groups of three collet set diamonds linked to the pearls in a demi-circle. This gorgeous brooch is made of tiny seed pearls strung on horse-hair and sewn on a mother-of-pearl template. This brooch is pre-1860, and at that time it was fashionable to give seed pearls as wedding gifts for the bride.
