The Boston Molasses Disaster, also known as the Great Molasses Flood and the Great Boston Molasses Tragedy, occurred on January 15, 1919, in the North End neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts in the United States. A large molasses storage tank burst, and a wave of molasses rushed through the streets at an estimated 35 mph (56 km/h), killing 21 and injuring 150. The event has entered local folklore, and residents claim that on hot summer days, the area still smells of molasses.

The Reagan assassination attempt occurred on March 30, 1981, at the Washington Hilton Hotel in D.C., when John Hinckley Jr. opened fire on Reagan and three others. After the shooting, Reagan was thrown into the limousine, unaware that he had been shot. He only realized this when he coughed up blood and discovered that his lung had been punctured. 1981

James Warren "Jim" Jones (May 13, 1931 – November 18, 1978) was the founder and the leader of the Peoples Temple, best known for the cult murder/suicide in 1978 of 909 of its members in Jonestown, Guyana, and the murder of five individuals at a nearby airstrip. Over 300 children were murdered at Jonestown, almost all of them by cyanide poisoning.Jones died from a gunshot wound to the head.
