"German-Jewish Surrealist painter, Felix Nussbaum was born at Hanover. His father was a WW1 German war veteran. During Occupation, Nussbaum was interned in France, but escaped and went into hiding along with his wife in Brussels. In July, 1944, the couple were murdered at Auschwitz-Birkenau on or about Aug. 2nd. Nussbaums father and mother, a brother, sister-in-law and niece would be killed at Auschwitz. His other brother died at the Stutthof camp in Danzig. The family was thus…
