OGATA KORIN (1658~1716)"Bellflowr" Ogata Korin is known as the ancestor of Rin-pa. He was born in Kyoto. He spent a lot of money, and at 40 he was broke and to earn he started to paint seriously. He worked with his young brother Kenzan. His painting is based on Yamato-e, a lot of painting ways are used on his works. His interests in Noh plays, tea ceremony, practice of calligraphy influenced his painting ideas.
