Purdah=Loose Outer Cloak or Garment worn when going out in public, which covers the entire body, thus concealing the shape and/or beauty of a woman, not a sign of oppression, but rather as a protection/modesty/religious choice by women of many different cultures and religions. This form of covering by women have been practiced by Christian Nuns, Orthodox Nuns, Hindu Practitioners, Muslimahs and Jewish Women, past and present, in various places around the world.
Seeing this in person was unreal. The majority of women in the Abu Dhabi and Istanbul airports were this covered, or even more so. I wonder what it's like. They also had the most luxurious luggage and purses and best manis I'd ever seen. Interesting.
