Blindfolded German officers are led back to their own lines under white flags after a talk with officers of the 9th Infantry, 2nd Division, who are fighting near Brest, France. The Germans sent an Army major, Navy captain, and a Marine chief petty officer to the Yank lines for a conference. August 19th, 1944.
Survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp are helped by Russian medic past the main gate with the infamous sign reading Arbeit Macht Frei which means "Work liberates." The concentration camp was liberated on 27 January 1945 by the 100th Infantry Division of General F.M. Krasavina (1st Ukrainian Front).
