Les Machines de l’île is an unprecedented artistic project. Born from the imaginations of François Delarozière and Pierre Orefice, it is a blend of the invented worlds of Jules Verne, the mechanical universe of Leonardo da Vinci, and the industrial history of Nantes, on the exceptional site of the former shipyards. http://www.lesmachines-nantes.fr/

Leonardo da Vinci Inventions "Leonardo believed he was destined to fly. He was fascinated by birds, and spent many hours watching and drawing them, to understand how they stayed in the air. From his pages of notes, we know he had developed a good understanding of aerodynamics. During his lifetime, Leonardo sketched many flying machine ideas. To the best of our knowledge, he never built or tested any of them. Which is probably a good thing, as not all of them would have worked." - BBC
