DCW prototype, 1945, The example offered here is one of the first hand-made models with the short-lived “double cycle welded shock mount” used to attach the backrest to the central spine. These distinctive early variations are clearly visible in the photographs of the Barclay and MoMA shows. This example is one of the approximately eight dining chairs exhibited and still retains a MoMA exhibition inventory label.
