At Bridgehampton, Hall and his 2G passed both McLaren M8As on the front straight and was opening a steady gap when a fuel injection issue suddenly slowed the car. Both McLarens got by as did Donohue in his M6B. While hall trailed in 4th place, both Team McLaren cars dropped out. With about 10 lap remaining, the Chaparral's stuck check valve unstuck. Hall took off in pursuit of Donohue. He was taking big chunks out of the lead, but ran out of laps, finishing 2nd. Author unknown.
