Some people get really hardcore fine tuning the acoustics for these vessels. Frankly I'll be happy if I can get a pot capable of some resonance.
Diagram of a basic suikinkutsu setup, another Japanese element for adding sound to a garden. I don't even know where I'd put this since I'm planning on diverting all the runoff water to various uses. Maybe just as a nice thing for when I'm washing my hands off after gardening. Also, the drainage pipe might be better situated vertically, coming up through the center, so as not to interfere with the vessel's resonance.
Backyard Turtle Pond Tutorial-- not really planning on putting any type of pond on the property, but this is a cute website on making a turtle pond and the turtles they kept there.
Suikinkutsu. This is a feature in some Japanese gardens. It's a deliberately designed 'cave' that will amplify the dripping sound.
