"Leave your front door and your back door open. Allow your thoughts to come and go. Just don’t serve them tea." —Shunryu Suzuki ..*
Avalokiteśvara is a bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. Avalokiteśvara has made a great vow to assist sentient beings in times of difficulty, and to postpone his own Buddhahood until he has assisted every sentient being in achieving Nirvāṇa. One prominent Buddhist story tells of Amitabha Buddha, seeing his plight, gives him eleven heads with which to hear the cries of the suffering and invests him with a thousand arms with which to aid the suffering multitudes.
