Ancient Gandhara civilization: Hariti, the Gandharan Goddess of Fertility and Childbirth, recovered in Sikri, dating to the 2nd century CE, Lahore Museum. Hariti was originally an Iranic-Zoroastrian ogress who used to devour children, but after the arrival of Buddhism in Gandhara, she was transformed (“converted”) to a Buddhist figure of protection and parenting.

Buddha Pakistan, Gandhara area; Kushan period (late 1st - 3rd century C.E.), late 2nd - early 3rd century C.E. Incorporating stylistic elements of Greek and Roman sculpture, this large, standing Buddha typifies the art of Gandhara. The Buddha wears the traditional garments of an Indian monk, a long cloth wrapped around the waist and another long shawl draped over the shoulders.
