Lamb House, Rye, East Sussex The author E F Benson lived here (after Henry James). One summer’s day he was sitting in the garden with the Vicar of Rye when they both saw a man in a black cape walk past them and then vanish. A later owner, the author Rumer Godden, also reported poltergeist activity.
