Tape loom, 19th c. Loom tape is a thin strip of cloth or linen used as trim on clothing or other household purposes, such as straps for bags. This loom has two saw-blade like stops, one at each end, and a moveable beater and heddles. Other tape looms might be hand held, with one end of the tape secured to a stick that was in turn, secured to the person looming and the other end secured to something stationary, like a door, for tension.
