This old television set represents the one found in the diner, close to where Taylor received Turtle. The television has one channel with perfect sound, and one with perfect picture, but one cannot experience both at the same time. This parallels to the lesson Taylor learns - that not all things in life go well, and you can't have it all.

This looks very similar to the TV we had in the 60's when I was small boy, as we lived in the country, only two TV stations to choose from & was a b/w TV, how things have changed.
