Horneros are brown birds with rather short tails and fairly long bills. They are known for building mud nests that resemble old wood-fired ovens (the Spanish word “hornero” comes from horno, meaning “oven”)

Ākohekohe 'Crested Honeycreeper' - found only on the Hawaiian Island of Maui. Its habitat is estimated to be only five percent of its original range; the species was formerly found elsewhere on Maui and on Molokaʻi, where it is now considered extinct.
