This engaging mask comes from the coastal area at the mouth of the Ramu River of Papua New Guinea’s Madang Province. The mask has deep-set eyes, a thin loop nose, pronounced cheeks and a beautiful soft red surface. The piece dates to the early/mid 20th century.
