This is such a neat idea! Students who rush through their work receive a speeding ticket and have to correct the incorrect work by a certain date. This also teaches them a lesson in the real world!

This is a great diagram to have in the classroom to implement scaffolding. Duffy emphasized how important it is to scaffold in the classroom and assist into that transition into independent work. The diagram of I do, We do, You do is a great way to remind the chidlren of this strategy.

Differentiate homework & give students choice... Students choose when to do deliberate practice in math 20 min. [review (meet expectations) or take on a challenge (exceed expectations), & in literacy [write for 60 min./week & read for 60 min./week.] Logging what they have done & showing their progress to the teacher throughout the week is mandatory.
