In Paris during the Roaring Twenties Lempicka became part of the "bohemian" life. Famous for her libido, she was bisexual,and her affairs with both men and women were conducted in ways that were considered scandalous at the time.
Tamara de Lempicka (16 May 1898 – 18 March 1980): Polish Art Deco painter & "first female artist to become a glamour star". Born Maria Górska in Warsaw, Poland, into prominent family; father, Boris Gurwik-Górski, Polish lawyer, mother (former Malvina Decler), wealthy Polish socialite. Tamara attended boarding school in Lausanne, Switzerland; spent 1911 winter w/grandmother in Italy & on French Riviera (treated to first taste of Great Masters of Italian painting).
