N. Devon art pottery earthenware vase w/ sgraffito through white slip and yellowish lead glaze. Inscribed in rebus style (fish) LY JR (bear) MM, and made by Mary Margaret (Beer) Fishley, daughter of Edwin Beer Fishley of Fremington, ca. 1890. H: 6 1/2”.
A small north Devon slipware jug with scraffito decoration displaying flowers, leaves and a bird. A very similar jug is illustrated on page 70 of ‘The Potteries Museum & Art Galleries slipware collection’, though without the inscription ‘for a good boy’. Circa 1860 Height 5 1/2″
