Circa 1880-1900, gilt silver and 14k gold, the dangling balls are set with fire red Bohemian garnets which smolder like embers when they catch the light. The necklace consists of twenty three oval clusters, each set with a ruby surrounded by rose diamonds, graduated in size from the centre towards the ends, and alternating with stylised flower buds, each set with a ruby between rose diamonds. The clasp at the back is concealed by a cluster each setting is closed at the back. 2nd half of the 18th century.
