Dame Alicia Markova (Lillian Marks) 1910-2004 English dancer, born in London Alicia trained with leading French and Russian ballet teachers before going on to dance with the famous Ballet Russes, aged only 14. Her name was changed to Markover as almost  all of the top dancers were Russian. She returned to England at 19 a Prima Ballerina. In 1935 she formed a ballet company with Anton Dolin which became The London Festival Ballet
