The Emancipation Monument by George Bissel, 1893, Old Calton Cemetary. In commemoration of Scots-American soldiers that fell in the American Civil War - a freed slave giving thanks to Abraham Lincoln - the only such memorial outside the USA.
Arnos Vale Cemetary. Bristol, England Established in 1837 as a garden cemetary it ran out of room for new graves and with no source of income fell into disrepair in the 20th century. Many once beautiful monuments crumbled and they lay neglected till locals were able to secure funds for restoration. Much of the older part of the cemetary still awaits restoration lending it a gothic air.
