Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. One of the definitive novels to emerge post 9/11, this is a parallel story of boys who lost their fathers due to acts of war. Nine year old Oskar’s father died in the attack on the WTC and years earlier his grandfather deserted his pregnant wife long after the bombing of Dresden. A collage of aphorisms, photographs, and other stylistic devices, this is a work of its time to be read by generations to follow.

A great list of books that will make you think. Have read some but others- always love a good book list :)

Hot Tea & A Book, Let It Rain

“We must see all scars as beauty. Okay? This will be our secret. Because take it from me, a scar does not form on the dying. A scar means, 'I survived'.”

Brilliant novel by Michael Chabon (novelist and screenwriter for Sam Raimi Spiderman franchise and John Carter) following the lives of two cousins through the golden age of comic books.

First good book I've read in a long time. About an orphaned, indentured white child who grows up with the slaves on a southern plantation. 5 stars!

who doesn't love the BIG FRIENDLY GIANT

I never went wrong with an Oprah recommended book and this remains one of my all time favorites.
