Walter Adolph Georg Gropius (1883-1969). German architect and founder of the Bauhaus School, who, along with Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier and Wright, is regarded as one of the pioneering masters of modern architecture. Is remembered not only by his various buildings but also by the district of Gropiusstadt in Berlin. He married Alma Mahler, widow of Gustav Mahler. Walter and Alma's daughter, Manon, died of polio at age 18. They divorced in 1920.

D. Sir Anish Kapoor, CBE RA (born 12 March 1954) is an Indian sculptor. Born in Bombay, Kapoor has lived and worked in London since the early 1970s when he moved to study art, first at the Hornsey College of Art and later at the Chelsea School of Art and Design.
