Japanese Crane in the Winter time - Nobles of Japan used to eat crane and turtles - two animals representing longevity. When the ban on commoners consuming crane was abolished, the animals were nearly wiped out. Few remain today and efforts to breed and release more into the wild continue.
The Barred Eagle-Owl (Bubo sumatranus), also called the Malay Eagle Owl, is found in Brunei, Cocos Islands, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, and Thailand. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.
