Sophia Dorothea of Hanover Queen of Prussia 1687-1757 By Antoine Pesne in 1737-marr Frederick William I of Prussia. They had 14 children of whom 4 died as infants. Thier living children included King Frederick William II of Prussia and Louisa Ulrika, Queen of Sweden. The queen and her children were terrorized and beaten by King Frederick William I.
Queen Charlotte (1744-1818) with her two Eldest Sons by Allan Ramsay (1713-84) (artist) c. 1764-9 In Ramsay’s portrait Queen Charlotte is seated with Prince Frederick, later Duke of York (1763-1827). She leans against a piano on which is a work-box and a copy of John Locke’s 'Some Thoughts Concerning Education' (1693). At her knee stands Prince George, Prince of Wales (later George IV, 1762-1830), with a bow; behind him is a drum.
