Evening Dress | House of Worth | France | 1901 | Bunka Gakuen Costume Museum
Doucet afternoon dress 1900s
Floral striped satin in ivory and aqua, ca. 1897. Boned beige silk faille under-bodice that closes in front with hooks. Leg-o-mutton sleeves have stiff inner construction of cotton and buckram to hold shape. There was probably another bodice because of a picture showing the original owner wearing a different one. Skirt, lined with brown silk faille, has wide border of lace at hem and aqua satin bows. At back, long satin ribbons fall from waist. Vintage Textile via web.archive.org
