Marvin Pentz Gay, Jr. (April 2, 1939 – April 1, 1984), better known by his stage name Marvin Gaye (he added the 'e' as a young man), was an acclaimed American singer-songwriter and musician with a three-octave vocal range, who achieved major success in the 1960s and 1970s as an artist for the Motown Records label. He was shot dead by his father on April 1, 1984.
The song "What's Happening Brother" was written in May 1971 by music artist, Marvin Gaye. So here we are 2016 and the question"Why are so many black men dying" is still in question til this day. #WhatIsGoingOn
Marvin Gaye was one of those dudes that was expressive and passionate about his craft. If he was in pain you really could feel it, if he was feeling sexual you felt it, if he was feeling joy you felt it. I love this dude totally under appreciated for his serious work, I am not a fan of the cater to the crowd pop stuff. He was a man who was not afraid to break out of the safe MOTOWN cookie cutter mode and make a world statement. He's a true hero to me - Bendrix
