Nobody agrees of the origin of the name Greyhound. It may be from “Graius,” meaning “Greek”; or from the Latin “gracillis,” meaning “slender”; or from the Latin “gradus,” referencing its high place in dogdom. But it’s not from the color gray, even though some Greyhounds are gray!
