Japan's Princess Kako attended an event at the Imperial Palace in December 2014 to celebrate her 20th birthday and her debut as an adult member of the imperial family. Kako prayed at the Three Palace Sanctuaries in the palace grounds, after which Emperor Akihito bestowed her with a decoration known as the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Precious Crown. Her tiara, necklace earrings, bracelet and brooch, made by Mikimoto, are the new diamond parure given to the Princess on her 20th birthday.
