Spelling battleship 2 player game, each player inserts his word list in spaces going across (one letter per box). Players take turns guessing coordinates. If they miss, they mark it on their board. If they hit a letter, they keep guessing until they miss. If they sink a word, the player marks it off of his list. The goal of the game is to sink all of your opponent's words.
Bookcase Shadows- This has LOTS of possibilities. What about having the kids MAKE an outline of something from their favorite book and use it to bring your classroom bookcases come to life & to use as their shelf marker (so they know where to put their books back)
"Table Texting" is a fun, interactive strategy you can use with any piece of text or topic. The key is to pose a higher-level question that encourages thinking among students. Students respond to the question in writing. The teacher or facilitator collects the papers and redistributes them. Students get to read other responses and reply. The process continues until all of the speech bubbles are completed. At the end, students get to read their classmates' responses. Great for upper grades.
