立ち尾

尾が腰のあたりから体を離れて立ち上がる。江戸中期以降に見られるようになる立ち尾は、簡素な尾を少しだけ立ち上げる古いタイプから、大きなヤツデの葉あるいは太い筆先のような装飾的で大きな尾のタイプまで様々である。昭和初期以降は、御影石（花崗岩）で作られ、S字状の炎のようなかたちをした尾のものに定形化されていく。
