Offside (2006)

Offside is a film about a group of women who are desperate to watch the World Cup but are forbidden to do so because of their gender. The film itself was directed by Jafar Panahi, an extremely controversial director in Iran, who has actually had a few of his films banned from being screened within the country. Not only is Offside filled with passion and national pride, but it also shows the reality of women living under a controlling regime in Iran, from their own perspective.
