Hand felted wool roving on felt background. Felted piece is 3" wide x 5" high, framed in a shadow box. Outside dimensions of the frame are 6" wide x 8" high and 1" deep. Stands alone on table or can be hung on the wall.

The portraits made by the artist Dani Ives seem to carry several brush strokes of ink but are incredibly produced only with wool and needle. The artist's needle-felted pieces are made with great precision and richness of details.

I often get told that my pictures are so lifelike that they think it’s a photo. That is the response that I hope for. In doing what I do, I hope to convince the observer that using wool instead of paint is a genuine art form and a wonderful medium to use, and not just a craft.
