In Arabella’s drawings the paper is a white space devoid of clutter. This leaves the figures she draws a space to exist there, undisturbed and free to look at the horizon, lie in the sun or go for a walk, whilst at the same time seemingly floating in a timeless place. This focus on the figures, and exclusion of colour and background, draws us into what the subject is doing and even possibly how they are feeling or what they are thinking.
