Ms. Funicello won America’s heart on television in “The Mickey Mouse Club” and later captivated adolescent baby boomers in slightly spicy beach movies.

Her dreams appeared to be shattered when the Mickey Mouse Club television show was cancelled in 1996. But little did Britney Spears know what huge things she would go on to achieve over the next two decades.

Original Mickey Mouse Club: This was Walt Disney’s second attempt at a television series. His first show was a theme park anthology called Disneyland. The program aimed at a target audience of kids aged 3 to 14. Each episode had a unique theme, such as “Circus Day.” For four seasons, it aired every weekday from 1955 to 1957 at 5 p.m.

They've been considered rivals since their younger days on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club in the early '90s.

Dust off the record player because the Mouseketeers are returning to Vinyl. This limited edition 10” picture disc features two original tracks from the Mickey Mouse Club. In 1989, The Disney Channel launched a brand new version of the famous Mickey Mouse Club. Mickey Mouse was really just a mascot for the show. In fact, eventually he was dropped as the show became "MMC" and the Mouse was not even mentioned. The talented, versatile young cast was the main focus. The new Mouseketeers ditched the ears for cool varsity jackets featuring their names and the new Mickey Mouse Club logo. The show was kind of like Nickelodeon's "You Can't Do That On Television" mixed…

Did you know that many of Disney's young Mouseketeers graduated from the Mickey Mouse Club and went on to bigger, if not better, things? We think you'll be surprised at some of the now-famous names!

Karen Pendleton joined the cast as one of the youngest members and remained a regular for the entire show's run on ABC from 1955-1959

Disney chief Bob Iger led a ceremony Monday dedicating the soundstage to Funicello, the Mouseketeer-turned-movie star who died in April at age 70.

The Walt Disney Archives staff says the inaugural Mickey Mouse Club meeting held Dec. 21, 1929 at the Elsinore Theatre is the earliest on record.
