Sweatshirt quilt

Use your Hoodie in a quilt! If you’re anything like me, when sweater weather comes, you live in hooded sweatshirts until Spring. And, like so many others, you might want to include some of your favorites in a memory quilt.

Sweatshirts can be recycled to make good quilts. They are warm enough that just a backing rather than adding batting may be sufficiently warm if a lightweight quilt is desired. I often alternate sweatshirt materials with jean material.

A walking foot is an optional presser foot on many sewing machines. It has "feed dogs" on the foot itself to guide all layers of fabric evenly, keeping the top and bottom in alignment. The walking foot is used to sew plaids and stripes to match the patterns, and to sew through the multiple layers of quilts.
